Grounding and Stress Support in August

Leo season comes full force this month, asking us to take up space and feel the ground underneath our feet. By allowing ourselves to express and share our own sacredness, we can create a supportive space for others to do the same. For those who find an imbalance in their Leo self, cooling and moistening herbs may be of service. If a little assistance to ones inner fire is desired, a dash of warming herbs may be just the medicine needed to light the match. The biggest gift of Leo season comes in the form of soul willpower with the courage to stand up for what we believe in and speak our most inner truths. This is a great time for confidence work, spell work around success and prosperity, and focusing on ones own concepts of vitality.

August is a month that tends to go by in the blink of an eye. How will you make this August count? How might you make it memorable? We may have noticed that July called in some challenging energy, bringing to the surface things that needed to be examined once again. This month however, asks us to cultivate and exercise our boundaries, especially those around self care and protection. Supporting our nervous systems and rejuvenating sleep are important aspects of this big work, because although Leo season helps us tend to our flame, we are reminded that in order to gather ourselves, we must also learn the balance of slowing down. Our herb of the month, California Poppy, helps us to ignite our soul work while nourishing the parts of us that need to rest so we can continue shining as our bright and beautiful, powerful selves.

California Poppy is often used for its sedative and antispasmodic effects. It can be helpful for those who have trouble sleeping, insomnia, nervous agitation, bed-wetting in children, as well as aches and pains. It may also have benefits with mood support. It is safe for children with agitation and colic. Spiritually California Poppy is helpful with soul work. It helps one find a place of rest in order to be receptive to what the inner self truly needs. It is also a very creative plant, and can stimulate periods of creativity, expression, and clarity,.

Ritual: Make it a Sun Tea

Making a tea infusion powered by the energy of the sun is an easy ritual that helps us interact with the potent magic of the sacred fire in the sky. Take your herb blend and put it into a jar. Fill jar with room temperate water. (We recommend sticking with the 1 tablespoon of herb per cup of water.) Closed jar with lid and shake to mix up the herbs. Leave jar outside in the sun for the day. Strain and drink at the end of the day!

Optional: Drink iced, room temperate, or add a splash of hot water.

California Poppy Flower Essence:

Flower essences are a great way to interact with plants, especially those that one may not be able to take internally. Recommended dose is normally 4 drops on the tongue when desired or when support is needed. California Poppy flower essence helps ones soul to notice and receive warmth and light in order to fill one’s own inner cup. It helps the heart radiate and strongly aligns ones own values and choices. Encouraging quiet development, California Poppy is a plant of self-responsibility, urging one to strengthen and develop a foundational inner life. *Included in the August Herb of the Month Box.

We hope you are safe and well.

May you find rest and nourishment this month.
