Renewal, Resilience and Growth in March

March is a month that brings with it the promise of growth and rebirth. It asks us get creative in how we tend to ourselves because our body, mind, and spirit often need a little extra care during the transition from winter to spring. During this time we may learn different and interesting ways to nourish our core selves and sometimes the answers are more easily found with a long breathe in and a long exhale out. We may ponder how much energy the plants and flowers around us are expelling to grow above the dirt and bloom and understand that we are in so many ways the same during this time of year. Manifestations planted during the early frosts of winter and the new year are showing sparks of their creation and the world is taking up some much needed space.

Here are a few ways one may incorporate extra support during this transition:

  • Drink extra water

  • Get extra rest (if possible)

  • Drink a nourishing tea (find a recipe below!)

  • Put your feet and hands in the dirt (grounding work)

  • Keep your kidneys (lower back region) covered and warm

  • Take hot baths (include CBD bath bombs, herbs, or soothing bath salts for extra goodness!)

Spring Equinox & All Its Magic

The celebration of the Spring Equinox falls on March 19th this year, when the amount of daylight and darkness in the day are nearly the same. This is a day that knows the power and necessity of the ‘dark’ and ‘light’ in our lives and more importantly, the balance of the two. The Spring Equinox is a time of year that many cultures and parts of the world celebrate in their own special way. Many Pagans and Witches celebrate and honor Ostara (also known as Eostra), an Anglo-Saxon Goddess representing dawn and the fertility of the earth. The Persian New Year, Nowruz, falls on the Equinox every year, Indigenous Mayan people celebrate their own festival traditionally called ‘Return of the Sun Serpent”, while others around the world carry out their own traditions.

How will you celebrate this coming spring? Do you have seeds you are ready to plant and manifest into fruition?

Herb of the Month: Burdock

This month our dear herb ally is Burdock, helping us attune to warmth after a deep winter. Also known as Bat Weed, Clot-Bur, Thorny Burr, and Love Leaves, this plants provides us with some grounding root medicine. A member of the thistle family, Burdock is associated with feminine energies, the element of Water and the planet Venus. It is a cleansing and protective herb - incorporate into floor washes, ritual baths, tea blends, carry in a pouch, or incorporate into spiritual workings for warding off negativity and general protection.

Medicinally Burdock is cooling and can distribute moisture through out the body. It is supportive to the skin, liver, kidneys, and gall bladder. It is often used to chronic skin eruptions, eczema, gout, arthritis, sciatica, and may help normalize the menstrual cycle. Burdock supports the excretion of toxins. It also contains inulin, supporting the digestive system and helping create a habitable gut space for pre and probiotics use.

Contraindicated in pregnancy.
