Join us for a closer look at using plants as medicine as we explore therapeutic uses of individual herbs and their effect on our different body systems. Students will learn how to evaluate herb quality and choose appropriate remedies to create health and balance. We will cover acute care and first-aid, daily use of tonic herbs and specific dosages and safety parameters for each herb.

The Art of Thai Herbal Compressing

In Thailand, Luk Pra Kob is a method of treatment employed in traditional Thai Medicine that stimulates the Sen Sib energy lines using herbal compresses. For this workshop, we will make our own compresses using a combination of herbs from Chiang Mai herbalists along with fresh and dried herbs that have been locally procured. This will be a sensory journey to Southeast Asia—not to be missed!! We will discuss the healing properties and application of each herb, and you will have a compress to take home with you. Trees are one of Shelley’s favorite topics and The Botanic Gardens is full of FABULOUS medicinal species including Hawthorne, Ginkgo, Linden, Crampbark, Witch Hazel, Desert Willow, Horse chestnut and Cacao…the famous chocolate tree!

Wild Women’s Mountain Herbal Weekend in Winter Park, Colorado
August 16th & 17th
Saturday & Sunday 10am - 3pm
Join us for a playful late-summer weekend full of herbal healing wisdom & nurturing earth-centered learning as you awaken the spiritual connection between you and the earth mother through her favorite healing ally: the plant world. We will explore mountain forest terrain with an herbalist’s eye, making plant medicines as we go. Please bring a small hand trowel for digging, clippers, 5 small glass jars and a few reusable tote bags for gathering plants. We’ll make fresh plant medicines including: evergreen tree tip teas & honey, fresh vinegars & medicinal tincture preparations. Christina will also share the art and practice of making flower essences from scratch. In circle we will use plants and song to honor the earth-centered traditions and spirit strengthening practices that help deepen our connection to nature. Join us for an incredible weekend as we open to the creative source and breathe life into the Art-Medicine Woman inside. Painting is a powerful tool for healing and change, it is delightfully unpredictable, body centered and non-verbal. It is bright and alive! At times it is all play and fun, at other times it is deep and requires a commitment to inner work and healing. NO ART OR PAINTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, actually the less the better! Painting from the Source by Aviva Gold is required and fun reading for the workshop and is available at Apothecary Tinctura.
